Audio streaming platform Spotify experienced a three-hour-long outage on Sunday, affecting over 40,000 users in the United States, as reported by Downdetector.com. The outage was resolved and by 3 p.m. ET, less than 600 users were still experiencing issues. Spotify acknowledged the situation on social media platform X, stating that everything was now functioning better. However, the company did not provide any immediate response to Reuters’ request for comment regarding the cause of the outage. Users reported various problems during this period such as being unable to stream anything other than recently played songs, playlists failing to load, and music randomly stopping. Despite this setback, Spotify’s number of paying subscribers increased to 246 million in the second quarter.
