A Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston took a dramatic turn when lead singer Perry Farrell got into an altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro. The incident occurred during the band’s performance of their song “Ocean Size” from their debut album. Videos of the confrontation quickly spread online, showing Farrell screaming into his microphone before forcefully colliding with Navarro. The lead singer then attempted to throw a punch before being pulled away and escorted offstage.
Neither Farrell nor Navarro have released a statement regarding the incident, and representatives for both musicians could not be reached for comment. However, Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, shared her perspective on Instagram. She mentioned that there had been tension between the two band members and described how Perry became frustrated due to stage volume drowning out his voice.
The altercation occurred during Jane’s Addiction’s current tour, which began in August and is scheduled to continue throughout September and October. This marks the first time in nearly 15 years that the band’s original lineup has toured together.
Jane’s Addiction has experienced multiple breakups and reunions over the years since their formation in 1985. They released their latest track, “Imminent Redemption,” earlier this year—the first song featuring all original members in over three decades.
In an interview with Loudwire Nights last month, Navarro hinted at the possibility of a new album from Jane’s Addiction, stating that there is recorded music yet to be finished and expressing hope for a full album release.
