Navy’s dominant performance led them to a 41-18 victory over UAB on Saturday. Blake Horvath, the star of the game, showcased his skills with two impressive touchdown passes and 84 yards rushing. This win puts Navy at an overall record of 4-0 and a conference record of 3-0 in the American Athletic Conference, marking their best start since 2017.
Horvath wasted no time making an impact as he scored the game’s first touchdown with a 20-yard run. Later in the first half, he connected with Nathan Kent for a remarkable 77-yard pass play, extending Navy’s lead to 21-3 just before halftime. Kent displayed his speed by sprinting untouched for the final 35 yards to secure the score.
The third quarter started off strong for Navy as Horvath found Eli Heidenreich for a spectacular 74-yard pass play, further widening their lead to 28-3. UAB managed to find some success when Jacob Zeno threw a touchdown pass to Iverson Hooks for a distance of 39 yards, bringing the score to 31-10 with approximately five minutes left in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Daba Fofana ran for another Navy touchdown from16 yards out. Lee Beebe Jr.’s two-yard run gave UAB some consolation points but it wasn’t enough as they trailed behind at38-18 with nine minutes remaining in the game.
Horvath had an exceptional performance completing nine out of eleven passes for225 yards and two touchdowns. The ground game was equally impressive as Navy amassed227 rushing yards on42 carries.
On UAB’s side, Zeno completed14 out of22 passes for202 yards along with one touchdown and two interceptions.Beebe contributed82 rushing yards on15 carries while their team totaled193 rushing yards.
