A massive male wild boar, weighing a whopping 130 kilograms, has been captured on a mountain in Kofu, Tottori Prefecture. This extraordinary boar measures 1.8 meters in length and has a girth of 1.3 meters. It is estimated that around 400 servings of meat can be harvested from this colossal creature.
Typically, wild boars weigh around 50 kilograms, so when the 67-year-old hunter who caught it first laid eyes on the beast, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He remarked, “It was so big that I thought it was a hippo.”
The capture of this enormous boar was made possible by five members of Okudaisen Gibier, a group specialized in hunting deer and other game animals. They managed to trap the animal using a snare set on Saturday.
Once captured, the meat will undergo an aging process in a refrigerator at a meat processing facility before being shipped out for consumption. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time such an impressive wild boar has been found on this mountain; another one weighing over 200 kilograms was captured back in 2022.
According to the group’s vice president who is aged 75 years old: “[The meat] is good for hot pots and other dishes.” With such an abundance of meat available from this giant wild boar’s capture, there will certainly be plenty to go around for those looking to enjoy its flavorsome offerings.
this remarkable discovery serves as a testament to both the size and diversity of wildlife found within Japan’s natural landscapes.
