Jillian Michaels Aims to Address Obesity and Chronic Disease by Eliminating Toxins from Food

Fitness expert and certified nutritionist⁣ Jillian Michaels has raised concerns about the harmful chemicals⁣ present ‍in food ⁣and‍ their negative impact on the health of Americans. During an appearance on CNBC’s “Power Lunch,” Michaels emphasized the ⁢need⁤ to remove these toxins from our food. She acknowledged that ⁢avoiding⁢ heavy ‌metals, microplastics, food ‍colorings, and​ glyphosate is challenging for individuals. Michaels believes ‌that systemic change is necessary to improve the health of‍ Americans.

The use⁢ of weight-loss drugs as a solution for obesity and chronic illnesses has surged in recent years.⁢ In 2023, weight-loss ‌drugs such as Ozempic, Rybelsus, and Wegovy generated approximately $21.1 billion in sales according to Pew Research. However, instead of relying on medications, Michaels aims to address the root causes of America’s ​health crisis.

Michaels advocates for changes in our food system and ‍people’s eating habits as a means to combat chronic illnesses. She cited eliminating soda consumption as ​a simple change that can make a significant difference. Additionally, she highlighted the financial costs and potential side effects associated with weight-loss drugs.

During an interview with “Fox & Friends,” Michaels emphasized that addressing chemical overconsumption and ultra-processed foods should be a nonpartisan issue due to​ the rise of chronic illnesses among millions of Americans.

Research from the CDC ⁤reveals that six out of ten ‌Americans live with at least one chronic illness like heart disease or diabetes. These diseases are leading causes of death, disability, and contribute significantly to annual healthcare‌ expenses totaling $4.3 trillion.

Recently, Jillian Michaels participated in a Senate testimony alongside other health experts regarding America’s chronic disease crisis hosted by Sen. ​Ron Johnson. She shared her personal struggles with clinical obesity during childhood but managed to ‌overcome it through martial arts training before dedicating her life to promoting fitness.

Michaels expressed concern about how many individuals are financially strained or ‌psychologically drained due ‍to their ​addiction to unhealthy habits without access ​to proper intervention systems.

Born in ⁢Los Angeles in 1974, Jillian Michaels became clinically obese at age 13 but transformed her life through martial arts training which ⁤led her into fitness coaching career including​ being cast as a trainer on‌ NBC reality show ​”The Biggest Loser.” She is also recognized as​ a certified nutritionist under American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA), authoring several bestselling books while hosting her podcast called ⁣”Keeping it ‌Real: Conversations with Jillian Michaels.”
