Graham Potter has confirmed that he has been involved in discussions amid rumors linking him to the Manchester United managerial position. Erik ten Hag, who has faced criticism following a poor start to the 2024/25 season, is reportedly at risk of losing his job after only two wins in several games. Potter, who was previously let go by Chelsea 18 months ago, has often been mentioned as a potential replacement for Ten Hag if he is sacked. However, Potter dismissed much of the speculation as untrue and false. During an interview on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, he stated that he takes what the media says with a grain of salt and prefers to keep his conversations private out of respect for everyone involved.
Potter was also asked about his thoughts on the vacant England manager position after Gareth Southgate’s resignation earlier this summer. He praised Southgate’s work and expressed openness to any opportunities that may come his way in the future. Having had a successful journey from Swedish fourth-tier football to reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, Potter aims to continue developing players and teams wherever he goes.
For now, Ten Hag is expected to remain in charge at Manchester United but will need to see improvements in results and performances if he wants long-term security at Old Trafford.
