Two typhoons are currently developing south of Japan and may potentially approach the country by Monday. The first typhoon, known as Typhoon Jebi or Typhoon No. 17, was observed moving north near Chichijima Island at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. It had a central air pressure of 998 hectopascals. The second typhoon, named Typhoon Krathon or Typhoon No. 18, was seen moving west-northwest in the Bashi Channel between Taiwan and the Philippines at 10:10 a.m. on Monday with a central air pressure of 935 hectopascals.
