Country music legend Randy Travis is gearing up for another special year in 2025. After a stroke left him unable to sing over a decade ago, Travis has defied the odds and made an incredible comeback. Earlier this year, with the help of AI technology, he produced new music and embarked on the “More Life Tour.” Now, he’s adding more tour dates for 2025.
But how does a singer who can’t sing host a concert? According to Taste of Country, Travis won’t actually be singing during the performances. Instead, James Dupre will take on the vocals while Travis’ original touring band accompanies him. Travis and his wife, Mary, will also be present on stage to enjoy the music and interact with fans.
In a statement to Taste of Country, Travis expressed his gratitude for being able to spend time with his fans and band members through this tour: “The More Life Tour celebrates so much more than a musical moment in time… It’s a gift to me.”
Travis suffered his stroke in 2013 and was given just a 2% chance of survival at that time. Although he survived against all odds, the stroke severely affected his ability to speak and use language effectively.
However, in May of this year, Travis released a new song titled “Where That Came From.” This achievement was made possible through the use of AI technology. Dupre served as a surrogate singer by recording vocal tracks that were then transformed into the final song using AI software.
Randy Travis’ journey is truly remarkable as he continues to defy expectations and pursue his passion for music despite significant challenges.
