However, Villa had a free-kick and D’Angelo’s header was saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Hampton, who proved to be the match-winner. The game ended with Chelsea securing a narrow victory.
In the 90+3rd minute, Hampton once again made an impressive save when Villa’s keeper joined the attack and Daly attempted to score. It looked like the ball had crossed the line, but Hampton’s crucial save kept Chelsea in front.
With just two minutes of added time remaining, Hampton cleared the ball out of play as Villa desperately pushed for an equalizer and won themselves a corner.
As full-time approached, Lucy Bronze tried to waste some time for Chelsea while Sonia Bompastor looked nervous on the sidelines knowing her team had been given a tough challenge.
In the 89th minute, Millie Bright had to clear up defensively as Katie Robinson threatened for Villa. Both teams showed determination in their defensive duties as they fought hard until the final whistle.

Villa, however, continued to dominate possession and used Leon as their out-ball. In the 75th minute, Villa still had plenty to play for as they forced another corner. Chelsea fans began to sense their team making progress when Beever-Jones had a shot blocked and Lucy Parker almost scored from Hamano’s cross in the 74th minute.
Villa remained a threat with Kaneryd causing problems for Chelsea. Lucy Bronze made a crucial clearance while De Pauw urged Lucy Hanson to press hard in response. In the 70th minute, Villa made substitutions with Grant being replaced by Leon and Dali being substituted for Katie Robinson. Meanwhile, Beever-Jones and Hamano came on for Baltimore and Ramirez respectively.
Despite these changes, Villa continued their dominance while Chelsea struggled to come up with ideas. The experienced Rachel Daly won a free-kick in the 62nd minute after performing an impressive swan dive. Kirsty Hanson also made an impact since coming on at half-time.
Villa maintained control of possession throughout most of the match while Chelsea tried to find ways back into the game but lacked creativity in their attacks.In the 60th minute, Chelsea had a close chance as Ramirez cut inside but couldn’t find a teammate to finish the play. In the 58th minute, Buchanan made a fine defensive play to prevent Hanson from getting away, but the resulting corner was poorly taken. In the 56th minute, Buchanan headed over from a Chelsea corner. In the 54th minute, Kaneryd and Reiten combined down the flanks but failed to find anyone in the box. In the 52nd minute, Baltimore had an opportunity for Chelsea when space opened up but missed the target.
In the second half, Villa started strong with Chastity Grant forcing a corner in the 47th minute. However, Hampton easily claimed it amidst some chaos in front of goal. In the 49th minute, Kaneryd set up Ramirez who missed her shot for Chelsea. Daly’s header from outside of box almost beat Hampton and hit off bar inthe50 min.
Villa continued to create chances as Grant forced another corner inthe47 min and Parker couldn’t connect with it.
At halftime Villa made substitution replacing Staniforth with Hanson.

Chelsea were not great there, with Villa’s efforts holding them at bay. Sonia Bompastor looked relieved at that Kaneryd goal. Villa played well, in my opinion though the TV commentators seem to disagree with me.
