Aston Villa made a strong start to their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over BSC Young Boys. Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey, and Amadou Onana all found the back of the net for Villa, while Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran had goals disallowed for handball. Despite Young Boys’ early pressure, it was Villa who took the lead through a well-executed corner routine. John McGinn delivered an excellent cross to an unmarked Tielemans, who calmly finished to give Villa their first goal in European competition in over four decades. Ramsey then capitalized on some poor defending from Young Boys to double Villa’s lead before halftime. Onana sealed the victory with a superb strike from outside the box. It was a perfect start for Aston Villa in their return to top-level European club competition after 42 years.
