LeBron James and his son Bronny James made their first appearance as teammates in Lakers uniforms during the team’s media day. The father-son duo also did a few interviews together, where they discussed a notable moment from a recent practice. Last week, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka revealed that LeBron took Bronny to the baseline for a reverse layup and even trash-talked him afterwards. When asked about this moment, Bronny admitted that LeBron did step out of bounds but chose not to elaborate further.
LeBron wasn’t going to let his son get away with such a claim and challenged him by saying he had already gone there. Bronny insisted that his dad did step out of bounds, but LeBron countered by pointing out that there was no camera angle to prove it. He jokingly called Bronny a rookie and brought up the time he stopped him when he dribbled out of bounds, claiming it was not a foul.
LeBron and Bronny are set to make history as the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time. LeBron expressed gratitude for this opportunity and said playing alongside his son gave him “a lot of life.” During games, Bronny will not refer to LeBron as “dad” but will most likely call him “Bron.” They also won’t be commuting together for practice in order to have some time apart.
Despite this, Bronny is excited about practicing against his father and competing at a high level. He acknowledged that going against LeBron every day would be challenging but looked forward to the experience.
The upcoming NBA season will undoubtedly be an exciting one for both LeBron James and his son as they embark on this unique journey together.
